Choosing an online Qur'an tutor: what to look for

A parent's checklist for judging an online Qur'an academy before you commit.

There are hundreds of online Qur'an academies. A few simple questions separate the good from the merely loud.

Ask for a real trial class

A trial with an actual tutor — not a recording — tells you far more than any website.

Check the format

  • Is it truly one-to-one, or a shared class?
  • Can parents sit in on the lesson?
  • Can you choose a male or female tutor?

Look for visible progress

Good academies share what was covered and what to practise. If you never hear how your child is doing, ask why.

Be wary of pressure

Sensible fees, clear terms and a no-obligation start are signs of a teacher confident in their teaching.
